Long-press the globe for GEOSTAT longitude. On: springs back when you release. Off: stay in GEOSTAT (Back / Escape returns to the view you came from). Desktop: hold Shift while dragging to park.
Only real NASA EPIC photographs of the Earth. Off: past the latest EPIC image and over EPIC gaps, Blue Marble with clouds built from EUMETSAT data, up to the real now.
While controls are hidden and playback is paused, redraw the globe about once per minute (about 30 fps otherwise).
After you release a paused time-scrub, Earth keeps turning and slows until it snaps to an EPIC frame. Higher values stop sooner.
